2011 Admiralty Park Walkabout (Sept 23)

Here's a collection of photographs I took at Admiralty Park, Singapore on Sept 23. It was a wonderful trip, a rejuvenating experience, surrounded by flora and fauna.

Credits to my (pretty) new Fujifilm F550 EXR camera. ;) Click on each photo to view it in full screen mode.

The trip almost didn't happen. From Woodlands MRT, the sky was in an indecisive mood. Weird sky. Never seen this assortment of bright light, dark gloomy clouds and cerulean sky in the same picture before.
Fujifilm F550 EXR: EXR High Resolution Mode at 4:30pm.

I crossed an overhead bridge and here's another view. It drizzled for 5 min but thanks to my persistence, the rain stopped and I went on to the park.

Bright and sunny at the entrance of Admiralty Park. Time: ard 4.55pm. Time to brisk walk past the Republic Polytechnic grounds to more natural groves of the park.
Camera kept at EXR High Resolution mode most of the time from this point onwards.

5pm: The pond in the park, sunbathing under the giant fireball. A few months ago, I saw a long tailed reptile dive in. I hope it was left the pond for good...

So many water plants, but can I tell them apart?

Is this a lotus flower?

Butterfly picture. At last, I caught it on a leaf.

5:06pm: Done with the butterfly shots. Into the woods I go.

Finally, this resembles un-urbanised greenery. I didn't choose the path to the mangrove/deeper forest cos I wasn't properly attired.

Beautiful greenery. Fujifilm F550 EXR: Pro Low Light Mode

The lush green was detected by With the EXR mode, the camera detected GREENERY settings and captured the lush green details like never before. Marvellous! I sticked to the Dynamic mode for the rest of the photos though the GREENERY symbol was not always present.

Crossroad once again. I walked the main road.

Shiny signboard. Long may it last.

Is the tree trunk meant to prevent erosion and ppl from stepping on the fertilised grass?

Nice touch by National Parks to warn us. I would love to cycle here someday on the granite trail.

I wish to have a home with a view like that.

Birds!

The end is nigh.

5:32pm. Finally reached the northern end. The packed buses I saw in the distance bypassing the bus stop meant I had to forget about taking a bus back after walking to Woodlands Waterfront. Too tired to go on, I took a U turn back.

5:38pm: Streaks of sun rays by the evening sky gently illuminating the grass. Glad I captured it.

I turned to the right but I couldn't stare into that eyeball-gorging sun. But my camera can. I'm quite a camera noob. Will I damage the lens with shots like this?

5:46pm. Returned from the wilderness. Back at the pond The trees and grass of Republic Polytechnic looks different in the evening sun, warmly baked and aesthetically soothing to the eyes.

5:47pm. Final shot before I walked back to the MRT for the journey home. The body is worn out and listless, but the soul is nourished.
